What is Office 365 migration software?

Office 365 migration software moves mailbox data — email, contacts, calendars, and tasks — along with OneDrive files, into Microsoft 365. That could mean moving from an on-premises Exchange server, from hosted email, from another cloud provider, or from one Microsoft 365 tenant to a different one entirely. Instead of native export tools or PowerShell scripts, the software handles connection, mapping, transfer, and verification for you.

This is the DIY counterpart to a managed migration service: you stay in control of scope and timing, and run the migration yourself against your own tenant, rather than handing the project to a team.

Good fit if you're moving:
  • On-premises Exchange to Microsoft 365
  • Hosted email or another cloud provider to Microsoft 365
  • One Microsoft 365 tenant to another (M&A, divestiture, consolidation)

How It Works

Four steps from connecting your source to a verified migration.

1. Connect

Authenticate your source (Exchange, hosted email, or another Microsoft 365 tenant) and your destination tenant.

2. Match mailboxes

Map source mailboxes to destination accounts automatically, or adjust matches manually where needed.

3. Choose scope

Select what to migrate — email, contacts, calendars, tasks, OneDrive files — and filter by date or folder if needed.

4. Migrate & verify

Run the migration, then run a delta pass to pick up anything new before final cutover. Review the completion report.

Primary and archive mailboxes, email with folder structure, contacts, calendars, tasks and notes, and OneDrive for Business files with sharing permissions.

Out of scope for this tool

SharePoint sites and document libraries are handled by CloudMigPro SharePoint Migration. Microsoft Teams chat history and channel migration are handled by CloudMigPro Teams Migration. This keeps each tool focused on doing one workload well rather than everything at once.

Core Features

Built for admins who want control without the scripting.

Automatic mailbox matching

Match source and destination mailboxes by pattern, cutting out manual pairing for large user counts.

Delta migration

Re-scan after the initial pass and migrate only what's changed, so nothing gets left behind at cutover.

Filtering & scheduling

Migrate by date range or folder type, and schedule batches to run overnight or on weekends.

Migration reports

Get a completion summary — per mailbox, per job, or across the whole migration — for every run.

Doing It Manually vs. Using This Tool

Native Microsoft tools exist for this — here's what changes with dedicated software.

Manual / Native Tools CloudMigPro Office 365 Migration
Tenant-to-tenant migration Limited native support; typically needs scripting Built in
Mailbox matching at scale Manual pairing, slow for large user counts Automatic pattern matching
Scripting required Usually, for anything beyond a single mailbox No PowerShell required
Catching missed items Manual re-checks after cutover Automated delta migration
User downtime during migration Often required for cutover windows Users keep working during migration

How your data stays secure

The tool runs from your own machine and connects directly to your source and destination environments using Microsoft's own authentication. Mailbox and file content moves directly between the two — it doesn't route through or sit on any CloudMigPro server in between, and nothing on your source mailbox is modified or deleted during the process.

Modern authentication
Direct source-to-destination transfer
Source mailbox untouched
Full audit trail per job
